After nearly a year since the fluoride issue in London, Ontario came back to the public light, we’re nearly ready for the public showdown with our City Council. Mayor Joe Fontana recently moved to quash the public participation meeting; however his attempts have failed. The public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25th, 2012, 7:00 PM at Centennial Hall. I urge everyone who is curious or concerned about this important issue to come out and attend this meeting!
As well, I recently emailed my City Councillor my thoughts on water fluoridation with regards to the City of London. I then found out that she is one of the councillor’s leading the charge to have it removed from London’s water supply.
When I first heard about Brigette DePape’s silent “Stop Harper” protest during the recent Throne Speech, I have to admit that I felt a bit appalled by her actions. But the more I think about it, the more I’ve come to a different viewpoint.
Although I still disagree with her left-leaning message (if you read my posts, you’ll know I don’t buy into the left-right paradigm), her actions are merely a symptom of a bigger problem in Canadian politics. The said realization is, our Parliamentary system is broken.
Today we have a Conservative majority government, mainly built upon vote-splits and disgruntled voters. The Liberals and Bloc are in shambles and the NDP for the first time in history …
This weekend I took the opportunity to vote at one of the advanced polls for the upcoming Canadian Federal Election. In decades past, many groups have fought hard to expand voting rights from simply white males to where they are now, being inclusive of many groups of people.
While I strongly encourage everyone to get out and vote, I can’t help but wonder what every individual knows about the party candidate they’re voting for. There are those who have studied the issues, there are those who have their brand loyalty (i.e. I’ve always voted for “that” party), and then there are those out there who just don’t have a clue.
As Canadian fighter jets flew over hostile Libyan air space, all four political parties put aside pre-election posturing for a few hours Monday to support Canada’s role in the mission to contain Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi.
“We are compelled to intervene, both [as] a moral duty and by duty [to] NATO and the United Nations,” Defence Minister Peter MacKay told the House of Commons Monday, opening debate on a motion supporting the deployment. The Liberals, NDP and Bloc Québécois unanimously supported the Conservative motion.
That support came, however, with conditions. NDP Leader Jack Layton called on Prime Minister Stephen Harper to involve members of the opposition in overseeing the operation.
London (ON) – Last night at the Wolf Performance Hall in the Central Library, Dr. Paul Connett gave a talk arguing for the removal of fluoride from drinking water. In his one and a half hour speech to a packed house of over 400 people, with standing room only, Connett outlined the reasons why the substance should be removed.
His talk looked at the benefits fluoride provides to teeth, the potential health risks associated with fluoride consumption within the body, and the ethics of water fluoridation. At the conclusion of his talk, Connett urged people to study the evidence for themselves and referred people to the National Research Council’s report Fluoride in Drinking Water and his new …
Regarding Ian Gillespie’s article What Next? Fluoride killing polar bears? (Feb 11) Rather ironically the polar bear population is actually on the rise, despite the global warming propaganda you otherwise hear from the media on television. Unfortunately, like the majority of North America’s population, Mr. Gillespie seems to have his head buried deep in the sand. Far too often we all take for granted the so called “scientific evidence” presented to us by authority figures, and we fail to do our own research, instead preferring to follow the convictional words of others.
This can be a costly error to those who fail to inform themselves.
The truth about water fluoridation is just one of …
Zbigniew Brzezinski’s much feared “global political awakening” is in full swing. Revolts in Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia and other countries represent a truly monumental worldwide rallying cry for freedom that threatens to immeasurably damage the agenda for one world government, but only if the successful revolutionaries can prevent themselves from being co-opted by a paranoid and desperate global elite.
During a Council on Foreign Relations speech in Montreal last year, co-founder with David Rockefeller of the Trilateral Commission and regular Bilderberg attendee Zbigniew Brzezinski warned of a “global political awakening,” mainly comprising of younger people in developing states, that threatened to topple the existing international order.
Reading the full extent of Brzezinski’s words in light of the global …
This week, I was happy to learn that Calgary City Council is considering the removal of fluoride from the tap water. It has long been my stance that this substance has no place in a public water source.
Most debates out there are centered along tooth decay benefits and the elimination of cavities, and the health benefits or consequences. While I could get caught up in the debate from a scientific research standpoint, I prefer to use common sense and logic in my stance against fluoride.
Let’s compare the two camps of people: there are those who want fluoride (pro) and those who do not (con). For pros, it’s all around you, you can drink …
